SUPER NATURAL STRENGTH - BY BOB WHELAN
10 YEARS (1994-2004) OF BOB'S HARDGAINER ARTICLES! "Super Natural Strength is a great source of information for anyone who wants real drug-free strength training, without hype, fads, worthless supplements or training advice from steroid users." --Dick Conner, Powerlifting Coach, (Multiple National Champion), Strength Expert
"Some trainers recommend to their pupils for the training of all muscle groups one and the same (light) weight and believe they are able to obtain the same effect by frequent repetitions. My experience has taught me that this is wrong, for the muscles of men or animals who are distinguished for certain feats of endurance are by no means over-developed. A long-distance runner or long-distance cyclist always has comparatively thin legs, as have a racehorse, stag, or greyhound. Nature does not act without aim and purpose. Hence there is a great difference between feats of endurance and feats of strength." - George Hackenschmidt

Alan Calvert One of the most important and most under-rated figures in the history of physical culture. He was the founder and publisher of STRENGTH MAGAZINE and the founder of MILO BARBELL COMPANY in the early 1900's. MILO was the first mass produced plate loaded modern barbell. STRENGTH magazine was an early leader in physical culture and many famous legends of the Iron Game such as Mark Berry, John C. Grimek, and many others, got their start there.
SUPER STRENGTH - BY ALAN CALVERT This book is considered by many strength historians to be "The Bible" of modern muscle building and weight training. The great John C. Grimek kept only one book on his book shelf by his desk at York Barbell and it was his copy of SUPER STRENGTH. (This is according to Jan Dellinger who shared an office with him.) This book is truly one of the most influential in the history of the Iron Game and Physical Culture.
THE TRUTH ABOUT WEIGHTLIFTING - BY ALAN CALVERT
Alan Calvert's original 1911 classic: THE TRUTH ABOUT WEIGHT LIFTING. The text remains exactly as written in the original 1911 edition with many photographs and illustrations. This interesting book focuses on what feats of strength were real and what were just stage pranks. Stage trickery and exaggerated claims of strength were rampant in the early 1900's. Calvert attempts to expose the tricksters and credit the honest true strongmen. The classic book is a must have in your physical culture collection.

Books By Lionel Strongfort aka Max Unger "STRENGTH is an absolute essential in securing and maintaining any normal degree of health. There are those who, themselves lacking in muscular vigor, are prone to speak contemptuously of the same, declaring that what they desire is not great "ugly" muscles, but just health! It occasionally happens also that some weakling will declare that he is in perfect health, inasmuch as he is out of bed and able to walk around. But, as a matter of fact, no one can enjoy a high degree of health unless he represents a high standard of physical vigor. He should be a good specimen of animal life. And this means that he must be at least normally strong. What would we think of the health of a horse or dog that was not thoroughly alive with active energetic muscles?" - Lionel Strongfort
INTELLIGENCE IN PHYSICAL CULTURE - BY MAX UNGER
"It takes work to become a man of strength, just as it does to become a capitalist or a great musician. But the work becomes a pleasure if it is in accordance with Nature and as soon as you see the good results of your ambition you will realize that your efforts are well paid for. Besides strength, you will also gain a degree of health, that is worthy of the name. Health and strength are indissolubly related." - Lionel Strongfort
